Welded Gabion Baskets for Stone Retaining Walls and Flood Control Added to Anping Ruibei Export Programme

A Structural Line Built for Landscaping and Flood Defence Projects

BM Metal Mesh, the export brand of ANPING RUIBEI METAL MESH FACTORY, has expanded its welded gabion basket programme to serve civil contractors, landscape architects and municipal buyers working on retaining walls, riverbank protection and flood control schemes. The line currently offers 35 standard references, with bespoke panel sizes produced to drawing.

Unlike twisted hexagonal gabion mattresses, welded gabion baskets use rigid welded mesh panels joined by spiral binders or lacing wire, giving a sharp architectural finish, tight dimensional tolerance and predictable load distribution when filled with graded stone.

Engineering Advantages

  • Rigid panel geometry — welded joints hold their shape during filling, so the finished wall keeps a clean, uniform face.
  • Fast site assembly — baskets arrive flat, are folded and laced on site, cutting crane time and labour cost.
  • Permeable structure — free drainage prevents hydrostatic pressure build-up behind retaining walls.
  • Corrosion resistance — heavy zinc coating plus optional PVC jacket supports decades of service in wet and coastal environments.
  • Vegetation friendly — stone voids accept soil and root growth, allowing green walls without loss of structural integrity.

Where They Are Used

Typical installations include garden and highway retaining walls, slope stabilisation, river and canal revetment, culvert headwalls, bridge abutment protection, flood barriers, noise barriers and decorative landscape features in parks and commercial developments. The same baskets are frequently specified for erosion control around drainage outfalls and for temporary flood defences held in municipal stock.

Manufacturing and Export Support

Panels are welded on automated lines, then hot dip galvanised to a zinc coating of at least 240 g/m² unless a heavier class is specified. Every consignment is supplied with lacing wire in a ratio of approximately 1.5 times the number of panels, and baskets are bundled and steel-strapped for container loading.

Because the factory also produces woven mesh, fence panels and rope mesh, contractors can consolidate gabion baskets with other site materials in a single shipment. The export team assists with packing lists, mill certificates and container loading plans, and can quote both FOB and CIF terms for projects in Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and South America.
