Stainless Steel X-Tend Ferrule Wire Rope Mesh Now Produced in AISI 316 for Zoo and Architectural Enclosures

A Flexible Mesh System That Combines Safety with Transparency

ANPING RUIBEI METAL MESH FACTORY has extended production of its stainless steel X-Tend wire rope mesh, adding new ferrule and seamless-sleeve configurations in AISI 316 alongside the established AISI 304 range. The category now carries 57 active references, serving zoo contractors, aviary specialists, facade engineers and safety netting distributors.

X-Tend mesh is a three-dimensional flexible network of stainless steel cables, where each cable is clamped or woven at every crossing point to form a diamond aperture. Because the mesh is held in tension rather than welded, it absorbs impact, resists vandalism and follows curved or inclined structural lines without visible deformation.

Why Designers Specify X-Tend

  • High strength-to-weight ratio — a light cable network delivers containment comparable to far heavier welded panels.
  • Visual transparency — open apertures keep animals and exhibits visible while maintaining a secure barrier.
  • Flexibility in three dimensions — the mesh adapts to cylindrical, spherical and free-form structures.
  • Weather and corrosion resistance — AISI 316 grade is suitable for coastal zoos, marine parks and humid climates.
  • Low maintenance — no painting, no rust treatment, no periodic re-tensioning under normal service.

Applications in the Field

Zoo and wildlife parks use the mesh for tiger, lion, primate and bird enclosures, walkways and overhead tunnels. Architects apply it to balustrades, green wall supports, facade cladding and atrium safety screens. Sports and leisure sites use it for climbing structures, cable car protection and stadium perimeter netting, while industrial buyers employ it as machine guarding and fall protection.

Quality Control and Supply

All cables are drawn and stranded in-house from certified stainless steel rod, then assembled with hydraulic ferrules tested for pull-out strength. Panels are supplied with stainless steel tensioning rods, wall anchors and mounting hardware so that installation crews receive a complete kit. Custom panel shapes, edge frames and coloured finishes are quoted to drawing.

For buyers running trials, the factory provides free samples of the 1.5 mm 7 x 7 ferrule construction so that strength and appearance can be evaluated before a full order. Shipments are packed in wooden cases with protective interleaving and can be consolidated with rope mesh, gabion baskets and architectural mesh from the same factory.
